How to Make Golden Milk (Turmeric Tea)

Have you ever been so excited about a certain drink (other than coffee) that you woke up in the morning thinking about it? 

If not, you haven’t tried my latest obsession:  Golden Milk.

Golden milk is something pretty special–it’s warm, comforting, creamy, frothy, and downright happiness-inducing! 

Best of all, golden milk is filled with turmeric and ginger, making it an anti-inflammatory powerhouse.  

These spices are known for their amazing health benefits, including:

  • prevention of cancer, diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease, and heart disease;
  • improvement of skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis, and acne;
  • relief from joint pain, such as rheumatoid arthritis; and
  • improved digestion, reduction of bloating and IBS symptoms.

I find myself craving golden milk in the middle of the afternoon when I need a pick-me-up, at bed-time to help me sleep, and after dinner as a satisfying stand-in for dessert. 

Give it a try, and soon you’ll be starting your day with visions of golden goodness dancing in your head, too.

Golden Milk (also called Turmeric Tea)

Serves 1


1/2 cup full-fat canned coconut milk
1/2 cup filtered water
1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1 pinch ground cardamom (optional)
1 pinch sea salt
1 teaspoon raw honey or coconut nectar

Note: Feel free to adjust the spice and sweetener amounts according to your taste.  You may also want to add any or all of the following:  1 teaspoon ghee or butter, 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon; 1 pinch cayenne pepper.


Whisk together all ingredients, except honey, in a small saucepan and warm over medium heat until steamy.  Remove from heat and add the honey, whisking until frothy.  Pour into a mug and enjoy!
